Self-Verification Photo Submission Instructions

  • Find your water meter inside your house. The meter is usually in your basement or utility area (it is not outside your house). Refer to the example photos on the right for help identifying the water meter in your home.

  • Once at your water meter, locate the pipe that goes into the floor. This is your incoming water service line.

  • Clear the area surrounding the pipe and water meter of all obstructions.

  • On your camera, turn the flash ON (not on auto, turn it ON).

  • Position your camera/phone no higher than your waist, parallel to the ground, 4' to 6' from the water meter and where the water service line comes out of the floor. Refer to the photo on the right for a good example of what your photo submission should look like.

  • After taking the photo, please review it to ensure it’s in focus, the flash went off, and the following items are clearly visible in the frame:

    • The water meter

    • The location where the incoming water service line comes through the floor
